Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), the country’s second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter recorded a 15.2pc growth in aggregate sales last month. Domestic sales grew by 11.85pc, exports witnessed a robust growth of 22.9pc. Domestic sales in January were 33,900 units (30,306 units), exports were 16,001 units (13,010 units) and aggregate sales were 49,901 units (43,316 units). Commenting on the January sales, Arvind Saxena, Director Marketing and Sales, HMIL said, “The year seems to have started on a positive note, domestic sales are showing some buoyancy. But we will have to cautiously watch how this momentum picks up in the months ahead.” The segment-wise cumulative sales for January 2012 are: A2 segment 44,960 units (Eon, Santro, i10, i20); A3 Segment 4,797 units (Accent and Verna); Santa Fe (SUV) 144 units.
